Let’s Color the Happy Sun Coloring Sheet

There’s just something about sunshine that makes us smile. Maybe it’s the Vitamin D that gives our bodies the nutrients it needs or maybe it’s that most times sun = fun. No matter what it is, this happy sun coloring page always brings a giant smile to our faces.

How to Use the Happy Sun Coloring Page

There are a lot of ways to use the happy sun coloring page but here are some of our favorites:

  • Use the happy sun coloring sheet when doing a unit study on the sun or the solar system. Wouldn’t you love to see this sun smiling at you from the center of the universe?!
  • Use the coloring page as part of your alphabet study. It’s perfect for the letter S and can be added to your alphabet coloring fun.
  • Use it as a writing prompt! What is the sun happy about? Why are its eyelashes so pointy? Does the sun even have eyelashes?! These are the questions we ask ourselves here at CPAM.
  • Color it and use it in your summer scrapbook of memories.
  • Color it after reading Robert Munsch’s The Dark – because this is the exact opposite….which could lead into a lesson on opposites. You’re welcome.

What to Use with This Coloring Page

While the sun may make us happy and wanting to color it with bright yellows and oranges, maybe your sun isn’t feeling as perky. Or…maybe you have an alien sun and want to color it purples and greens. Hey, we don’t judge. Color your sun however you want to color it. That’s what’s great about coloring. As one of our team members says, “You do you, boo.”

While we encourage you to use the coloring tools that you like best, here are some of our favorites and the ones that we used to color in our own happy sun coloring page.

  • Crayons – Good old-fashioned crayons were our go-to when coloring this happy sun coloring page. We like the quality brands vs. the ones with low pigment. But, any crayon will do, so go ahead and color with what you have.
  • Markers – We did the outline and fill-in style of coloring with markers on one version of our sun coloring page and it looked terrific. So markers are definitely on the list.
